So, the way I figure it, If Donnie actually gets his border wall built, it's only a matter of time before someone in Mexico plants a bomb and blows a hole in the thing. And then it'll happen again, and again. I also predict that the Mexican government won't put a high priority on catching the bombers.
Remember folks, you read it here first.

The Real Problem
The real problem isn't fake news. The real problem is absent news. Steve Bannon, the second most powerful man in the United States, and arguably, one of the four or five most powerful people on the planet, is an overt racist who yearns for an apocalyptic war of civilizations. As of yet, I haven't seen a single report on any of the major networks exposing the insanity of having such a man with so much influence on the government of the United States. I'm old enough to have clear memories of Howard K. Smith, Huntley and Brinkley, and Walter Cronkite. Those guys, true journalists, would have been all over Bannon.
And least we forget, Edward R. Murrow's take down of Joseph McCarthy. It can be done.

The Lap of Luxury
I kind of feel sorry for Melania Trump. I suspect she sold her youth for a luxurious life style for herself and her family. I doubt she ever suspected that her oaf of a husband would run for the presidency and hold her up to a certain level of public humiliation.
One of the sad things about the whole plagiarism things is that it has drawn attention away from the ravings of Dumbo's supporters at the Repug convention. In general, I hate Nazi analogies, but let's be honest, Rudy was a few minutes away from calling for concentration camps for American Muslims. General Michael Flynn was also pretty sad. Apart from being a horrible public speaker, until Donnie came around, the retired General was a life long, pro choice Democrat, yet he was willing to throw it all away for a very slight chance to be on the losing ticket. And would someone please tell Antonio Sabato Jr., that President Obama is not a secret Muslim. Now I have my doubts that the Prez is all that religious, but come on, the next thing we'll see is some sort of birther nut opening his big mouth, and wouldn't that be pathetic.

Number 3
Of course a mainstream/Republican independent Presidential candidate can win and here's how. All the stop Trump Republicans need to do is put forward a Repug who is able to peel votes away from both Donny Dumbo and Hillary. If he or she can win as little as two or three states that candidate has a good shot at throwing the election into the House of Representatives. Then, if the so called main-streamers remain loyal to their savior, they can make that person President of the United States. Mitt, John McCain, Marco, this may be your only chance at the big job.

American Democracy
So, here's the worst case scenario for American democracy.
Despite her big win in New York, Hillary Clinton goes back to her losing ways against Bernie Sanders. She goes into Philadelphia behind in elected, pledged delegates, but, unlike eight years ago, the super-delegates remain loyal, and she gets the nomination.
On the Republican side, Donald Trump arrives in Cleveland with a significant lead in actual votes as well as pledged delegates, but not the majority he needs to secure the nomination. The Republicans, after multiple ballots, reject both Trump and his nearest competitor, Ted Cruz, and instead pick John Kasich as their standard bearer. Donald Trump, angry and hurt, launches a third party run.
The election is over, Hillary comes in first, Trump second, and Kasich third. And one faithless elector casts a single electoral college vote for Paul Ryan. No candidate has enough votes in the electoral college, so the final choice for President is left to the House of Representatives. They choose Paul Ryan, a man who hasn't received a single cast vote from anyone.
And that's how American democracy finally dies.

Donny Dumbo vs Teddy Boy
Let's be honest. Ted Cruz is worse than Donald Trump. Trump may be a jackass, but at least he's a malleable jackass.

SNL
Will protesters disrupt tonight's taping of SNL? I hope so. Let's face it, NBC has a high tolerance for racist behavior and it's about time the network is called on it.

Maybeeeeee
I was born in 1955, and in my lifetime, the pundits assured us that the American people would never elect John Kennedy, because he was a Catholic. After a devastating loss in the California governors race against Pat Brown, we were all told that Richard Nixon's political career was over. He was no longer electable. Jimmy Carter, a one term Governor from Georgia, was a political joke. Another southern Governor, Bill Clinton, was a womanizer, somewhat shady, and after a disastrous keynote address at the previous Democratic Convention, one of the seven dwarfs, and was dog meat against a popular sitting President. And let's not forget how we were all assured that America wasn't ready for a black President, and that Barack Obama was nothing but a speed bump on the road to a John McCain victory.
I'm not predicting that Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders will be the next President. Quite frankly, my feeling is that Donnie will probably go third party and guarantee a Democratic victory. As for Bernie, I think he's got a shot in a week field, (And yes, I do include Hilary in that.) though it's unlikely. The point is, the American electorate doesn't always follow the advice of the talking class.

More On Donny Dumbo
I've noticed that the media seems to be taking Donald Trump seriously, and why shouldn't they. He is, after all, leading the Repug field, that is if early polling is to be believed. Everything he says gets parsed for meaning and how it will influence voters. My question: Why hasn't anyone questioned his sanity. We're so used to his publicity mongering that we're overlooking the very real possibility that he's clinically insane. Let's face it, put Donny on a street corner, and people are crossing the street to avoid the crazy guy.

Dylann & Donny
"You rape our women and you're taking over our country and you've got to go." Dylann Roof
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists." Donald Trump

Please Tell Me They Were Non Union
This just in! (Not really) The Donny hired background actors to fill out his Presidential announcement rally. As a member of SAG-AFTRA, I hope they were all non union.

The Donald
So Donald Trump want's to be President of the United States. Actually, I suspect he'd be horrified if he actually won. Best guess, his publicity addiction has finally got the better of him. The only question in my mind: Will his behavior at the Fox sponsored Republican debates make one of the other nuts look reasonable? Reasonable enough to be a viable candidate? Only Donald Trump, by comparison, could make Ted Cruz look sane.
And speaking of debates. As I understand it, only the top ten contenders, based on polling, will be invited. As of right now, Donny is in, but John Kasich, the sitting Governor of Ohio, is out. Lindsey Graham, a sitting U.S. Senator is out. Don't get me wrong, there's not a single announced Repug candidate that I would vote for, but Kasich and Graham actually have experience in government, and too, there not lunatic publicity whores.
